Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Might Finally Be Coming Soon
It’s been a long and winding road for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. First leaked all the way back in 2020 via a Russian Uplay store listing the game has since gone through just about every development pitfall imaginable: delay studio changes a full reboot, and more delays. At times it felt like the remake had become Ubisoft’s version of Skull and Bones a game forever in development. But now five years later, there’s a glimmer of hope.
Ubisoft Hints at Imminent Release
During Ubisoft’s recent Annual General Meeting the company’s chief financial officer Frédérick Duguet made a statement that has fans paying attention. Speaking about Tencent’s investment and a new spinoff venture Duguet mentioned that some of the funds will support development of existing brands then casually dropped this bomb: This goes to the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which is going to be released very soon…

What Does Very Soon Actually Mean?
Ubisoft last official timeline for Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake was fiscal year 2026 which ends in March 2026. That’s technically within the next eight months. While that might not sound very soon in gamer terms compared to the five years of radio silence and setbacks it almost qualifies. That said a more realistic guess? Ubisoft may be aiming for a holiday 2025 release. That window between October and December would place it just five months out. If so, we may start seeing trailers, teasers or pre-orders popping up in the next couple of months.
What About Splinter Cell?
The mention of Splinter Cell was more of a throwaway line and fans have learned not to get their hopes up. It’s been four years since the remake was announced with little to show beyond vague concept art and anniversary posts. For now, Splinter Cell seems to remain in deep cover. Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake may finally launch in the end of 2025 or early 2026. Ubisoft execs say it will be released soon. The remake has had a troubled history but seems to be back on track. Splinter Cell was also mentioned but don’t hold your breath just yet.
