Netflix Live Action Assassin’s Creed Series: Everything We Know So Far
Live-action adaptations of popular video games are on the rise, and now Ubisoft’s iconic Assassin’s Creed series is the latest to join the lineup. Netflix has officially greenlit a live action Assassin’s Creed series with Roberto Patino (Westworld) and David Wiener (Halo) taking on the roles of showrunners, creators and executive producers.
A Long-Awaited Project
It’s been almost five years since the first reports of a live-action Assassin’s Creed series emerged. Now, with this announcement the project is finally moving forward bringing new life to the beloved stealth-action video game series that has captivated millions worldwide.
According to Ubisoft the series will be a “high-octane thriller” that dives into the secret war between two factions: one that seeks to control humanity’s future through manipulation and power and another fighting to protect free will. The story will traverse pivotal historical events much like the games following characters whose destinies are intertwined with the fate of humanity.
We’re thrilled to team up with Roberto, David, and Netflix to bring this iconic franchise to life. We aim to build a series that stays true to what fans adore about Assassin’s Creed while also bringing its rich worlds and enduring themes to a brand-new audience.
A Collaboration Years in the Making
This project stems from a 2020 agreement between Ubisoft and Netflix with the live action series being the first product of this partnership. The success of previous Netflix adaptation of games like The Witcher & Arcane has set high expectations for this upcoming series.
The announcement have already taken to social media. Many are eager to see if Netflix can do justice to the rich lore and iconic characters of the franchise. One fan remarked I hope it will be better than I hope it turns out better than the last Assassin’s Creed movie one fan said while another added I just hope they do it right.
With nearly 15 mainline Assassin’s Creed games and countless spin-offs there is no shortage of material for Netflix to adapt. The big question now is: Which assassin’s story will lead the series? Until further details are revealed, all we can do is wait and speculate about how Netflix will bring the world of Assassins and Templars to life.
